It’s the goal of Scout.com and InsideTennessee.com to cover the entire state of Tennessee like no other.

Whether an in-state prospect does or does not have an offer from the University of Tennessee, it’s still our objective and goal to evaluate every prospect in the Volunteer state.

It’s that time of the year again when preseason rankings and predictions are popular.

InsideTennessee.com is proud to announce the “InsideTennessee Top Thirty Prospects.” Our experts spent a lot of time in the spring getting to know these prospects firsthand.

We are basing our preseason rankings on personal scouting, film evaluations and official offers, among other factors. We will re-rank each prospect after the completion of the Fall 2010 season. This is not the official Scout.com state rankings but just the opinions of our InsideTennessee.com recruiting staff.

One factor in deciding the top prospects in the state was this question: Who has the best NFL potential? This year, two prospects' names could fit that scenario.

We will now continue the InsideTennessee.com countdown.

No. 10 Brendan Downs, TEa, Tennessee High School, Bristol, Tennessee

This talented athlete only has two official offers but that doesn’t mean he isn't one of the top players in the state. Committed already to Duke, that has slowed his recruitment.

It didn’t keep Tennessee from offering, but we understand that the talented tight end will end up a Blue Devil. Good size, good hands. Needs to get bigger and stronger.

No. 9 We have our first tie in the top third of the poll.

Two running backs debut at No. 9: Dobbs Bennett High School star Chris Sensabaugh and Artaves Gibson from Memphis Mitchell High School.

While Sensabaugh has no official offers, don’t let that fool you, as he is one of the top running backs in the state. Gibson has official offers from Kentucky, LSU and Memphis. The Bluff City athlete has already chosen to stay home and has committed to Memphis.

No. 8 Mack Crowder, OL, Tennessee High School Bristol

One of the top centers in the state. Rated as a three-star prospect by Scout.com, Crowder has already picked up 13 official offers including one from Tennessee.

Other offers include Virginia Tech, Kansas, Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, North Carolina State, Middle Tennessee State and Vanderbilt.

No. 7 Terry Redden, DL, Memphis Whitehaven High School

Redden is one of the top defensive linemen in the state. He already has offers from Ole Miss, Memphis, Clemson, and Kansas. Redden has good size at 6-foot-3, 280 pounds. Look for his offer list to increase. He is one of several stars on his Whitehaven Football team.

No. 6 Jairi Dunaway, LB, Siegal High School

Dunaway is one of the biggest surprises of the spring and summer. He picked up his first offer from Tennessee. He has great size; he is a physical specimen, and a physical football player. He showed good fundamentals during the Badgers 7-7 Tournament and has been very impressive in several spring combines.
