D'Anthony Smith had been seen as a 2nd or 3rd round pick all season, but fell down some draft boards in recent weeks. Some had projected Smith to fall to the 4th round, so to go so early in the 3rd round was a good thing for the defensive tackle.
Morris, like Smith, had the athleticism the scouts were looking for in college prospects. Morris put the numbers up his senior season to back up his potential. Thought to be a possible late round pick, Morris was seen more as a free agent signee. Like Smith, for Morris to go so high in the round showed at least one team thought highly of his talent.
Daniel Porter, Louisiana Tech's leading rusher, did not get drafted. HereComeTheDawgs did learn that Porter was to sign a free agent deal with the Carolina Panthers.
Smith will be joining a team that is familiar to Louisiana Tech fans. Former Bulldogs Josh Scobee and Luke McCown played for the Jaguars last season. Scobee was selected in the 5th round of the 2004 draft by the Jaguars.
