Quinn Giles is one of the best receivers in the state. The Evangel star claimed double digit offers from all over the south and could be an impact receiver for the Bulldogs. Giles wants to play defense.
Giles could join
Cassetti Brown
and Chad Boyd as freshmen corberbacks on the team or he could join Javantay Crowe and C.J. Broades as freshmen safeties. No matter where he playes, Giles is one of the stars of the class.
Javantay Crowe, from across the street at Ruston High School, is a heavy hitter at safety. In the same mold as current Bulldogs
Antonio Baker
and Tarrence Calais, Crowe will be a fierce competitor in the defensive backfield. The last Bearcat to patrol the back seven for Tech was Jeremy Hamilton. Crowe has the potential to make an even bigger impact as a Bulldog.
Cassetti Brown is one of the fastest players in Louisiana. The Leesville safety ran sub 4.4 in the forty yard dash at camps at both Tech and Tulsa. Brown will most likely move over to corner at Tech. He has the height and speed to be an all league player. C.J. Broades, from Texarkana, TX chose Tech over UNT. Broades will add quality depth to the safety position.
Olajuwan Paige
chose Tech over UAB. The 5'10" South Carolina native spent the last two years playing for Georgia Military College. Paige will add veteran depth to a cornerback unit that returns just three scholarship players in
Terry Carter
, Josh Victorian, and
Darrius Terry
.
Chad Boyd has a chance to start at corner as a true freshman. The Shaw standout chose Tech over Tulane and Tulsa.
Christian Lacey
from Shaw signed with Louisiana Tech in 2008.
Rufus Porter
might be the highest touted player in the class. The Destrehan linebacker flashed some serious speed in the dome when he returned an interception 98 yards for a touchdown. Porter could see action as a safety in certain situations. Look for Porter to find his way on the field very early in 2009.
