Montrell Conner, an early commitment to Mississippi State, is still solid after the recent coaching change.

"I talked to Montrell for a long time last night," said Rick Roberts, Conner's trainer. "He is 100% solid to Mississippi State." "There was a question right after Coach Croom left," said Roberts, who trains most of the top athletes in the Monroe area. "He was looking around a little then." One school appearing on the radar was Southern Miss. "Frank Wilson had Montrell set up for an official visit this week," explained Roberts. "Since then, Frank was hired as the Mississippi State running backs coach. Montrell canceled his visit to USM, and will sign with State. He won't be visiting any other schools." "He is going to the school he wants and he is going to play for the coach he wants," added Roberts. "It's a good fit."
