Former Ruston High star Josh Brown is now at Odessa College in Texas. He is working hard on his game so he can take it back home to Louisiana Tech.
"I am verbally committed to
Louisiana Tech
," said
Josh Brown
. "That's where I want to go. I have been going to Tech games my whole life. I lived right down the road from the TAC and I'm ready to come back and make a big impact."
Brown ended up at Odessa and he feels it is the perfect place for him to work on his game. "A lot of junior colleges recruited me," explained Brown. "I like it at Odessa. They have a very good staff that can help me improve and get my grades up."
Brown says Louisiana Tech Coach Kerry Rupp recommended Odessa because he trusts their staff to make sure their players get better on the court and stay focused in the classroom.
Odessa Assistant Coach Mike Scutero says the Odessa staff has the same trust in the Louisiana Tech staff. "That's why we felt good about
Jamel Guyton
going to Louisiana Tech," said Scutero. "Jamel is going to be a good player for them. He knocks down open shots and they are going to help him get even better."
Ruston and Odessa are 600 miles down Interstate 20 from each other. The respect between the Odessa College coaches and the Louisiana Tech coaches have helped make that distance seem shorter.
"We are excited about Josh," added Scutero. "He is our hardest worker. He has really worked hard to improve his game and he will be a high major player before he leaves Odessa. Josh is excited to go back to Louisiana Tech. He is 6'4" and very athletic. He just makes plays on offense and defense."
Josh Brown signed with Louisiana Tech out of high school. He will be part of their 2010 signing class after spending two years at Odessa College.
