RUSTON - Louisiana Tech will see plenty of TV time in 2008 as the Bulldogs have eight games scheduled for television, including three nationally televised contests starting with its Aug. 30 home opener against Mississippi State.
"Having eight televised games is a tribute to our program and an opportunity for our institution to get some positive exposure," said Tech head coach Derek Dooley. "This is a great opportunity for our team as well, while also serving as a reminder to us of the preparation still remaining prior to the season opener."
The Battle of the Bulldogs from Joe Aillet Stadium will be carried live on ESPN2 starting at 5:45 p.m.
Mississippi State
, who won the Liberty Bowl last season, will the first SEC team to ever play in Ruston.
One week later, a national audience will watch the Bulldogs face the
Kansas
Jayhawks in Lawrence at 6 p.m. CST on Fox Sports Network. Kansas is coming off a 12-1 season in which it won the Big 12 championship title and defeated
Virginia Tech
in the Orange Bowl.
Tech's third nationally televised game will come Oct. 1 (Wednesday) as the Bulldogs take to the road to face
Boise State
on ESPN at 7 p.m. The Broncos have won five of the last six Western Athletic Conference titles.
In addition to the nationally televised contests, Tech will also be on regionally Sept. 20 against Southeastern Louisiana (ERT), Oct. 25 at
Army
(ESPNU or ESPN Classic), Nov. 22 at
New Mexico State
(ERT) and Nov. 29 against
Nevada
(ERT).
The ESPN Regional games will most likely be televised live on Cox Sports Television statewide as well as picked up by ESPN Gameplan.
Tech's Oct. 11 game at
Hawaii
will be televised on the island and could also be picked up by ESPN Gameplan.
The Bulldogs are coming off a 5-7 season that saw them finish 4-4 and in a tie for fourth-place in the Western Athletic Conference.
