Cruz Williams Interview

Cruz Williams Interview

Cruz Williams is headed to Louisiana Tech, and he has a surprise that Bulldog fans may be excited to hear.

Cruz Williams visited Louisiana Tech recently, sparking interest in Louisiana and in Arkansas about the future plans of the talented wide receiver.

"I'm going to Louisiana Tech," Williams said. "I originally signed with Fayettville (University of Arkansas) and I got my release from Coach Petrino."

"I feel like Tech is home," said the #80 receiver in the 2008 Scout.com national rankings. "This is all part of God's plan; things happen for a reason."

When asked how he heard about Louisiana Tech, Williams was quick to answer. "I always knew about Louisiana Tech football, and I wanted to give Coach Dooley a chance." Williams said he has a good friend that is planning to go to school at Tech and he visited the campus in Ruston with his friend.

Louisiana Tech currently has four scholarship receivers returning for the 2008 season. They will be joined by new Bulldogs R.P. Stuart, Houston Tuminello, Eric Fiege, and Richie Casey. Casey and Stuart are already on campus and Casey is on pace to play this fall as he rehabs from a knee injury.

Having Casey ready for the fall would be a big bonus for the Bulldog receiver squad. Another bonus would be if the 6'4" Williams could play right away. "I have my ACT score and all I have to do is take one summer school class and I am good to go," an excited Williams announced. "I will be in Ruston next month. I'm ready to get down there and get to work."

Cruz Williams has the size and speed to make a big impact on the field for Coach Dooley right away. Williams could be the big target the Bulldogs need to go with deep threat Josh Wheeler and playmakers Phillip Livas and Philip Beck.

Bleed TechBlue.com will follow this story throughout the summer and keep track of Williams status. Check back for the latest news on all Louisiana Tech recruiting news.
