Jones earned his second All-WAC First Team selection in three seasons, this year as a utility player, while Cobb was named to the second team along with three other conference outfielders.
Jones, a junior from Corinth, Texas, batted .364 on the season with 13 home runs and 46 runs batted in. His slugging percentage of .611 was a team-best, and he also stole eight bases on the season. In conference play, the junior was even better, hitting at a .374 clip with nine homers and 27 RBI. He also led the team with 21 runs scored in league play.
The versatile righthander also pitched in 14 games, making 12 starts and earning five victories on the season. He finished with an earned run average of 5.80 and struck out 46 batters in 68.1 innings pitched. It marks his second all-conference nod as he was also a first-teamer in 2006, when he won Freshman of the Year honors.
Cobb, a senior from Ashdown, Ark., opened the season with a 14-game hitting streak and finished second on the team with a .333 batting average. He also hit eight home runs and drove in 38 runs on the year.
He finished his Louisiana Tech career among the school’s all-time leaders in several offensive categories. His 226 hits ranks him seventh all-time. He also stands third in runs scored (147), tied for fifth in doubles (43), tied for sixth in triples (7), 10th in total bases (325) and ninth in total games played (199).
