May 20, 2008 WAC Tournament Central at WACSports.com Tournament Bracket in PDF Format RUSTON, La. - An automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament is on the line as six teams from the Western Athletic Conference descend on Louisiana Tech's J.C. Love Field for the 2008 WAC Tournament, set to begin Thursday morning.

Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico State, Sacramento State and San Jose State make up this year's field, and all six teams will be in action on the tournament's first day.

Thursday will also be a special day for Louisiana Tech athletics as the ballpark will be officially rededicated as the baseball complex will be rededicated as "Pat Patterson Park" while the field itself will still retain the name of J.C. Love Field. Members of the Patterson and Love families will be in attendance, as will Tech and WAC dignitaries and former players under "Gravy" Patterson.

The rededication is set to take place at approximately 6:45 p.m., or 15 minutes prior to the start of the third game of the day.

Top-seeded Fresno State will kick things off as the Bulldogs face sixth-seeded Sacramento State at 11 a.m. Thursday. That game will be followed by a No. 2 vs. No. 5 matchup featuring Hawaii and New Mexico State, beginning at 3 p.m.

After the Pat Patterson Park ceremony, Nevada and San Jose State will close out the first day with a 7 p.m. contest.

All six teams will once again be in action on Friday with winners' and losers' bracket games set for 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Ticket packages are available for both the whole tournament and for general admission seating. General admission prices have been lowered as a single-day pass now costs $7 and an all-tournament ticket can be had for $28. Reserved chairback seats remain $18 for a single session and $50 for the whole tournament. Students from Louisiana Tech and all other WAC schools may purchase general admission tickets at $5 for a single session, $15 for an all-tournament pass. For ticket information, call the Tech ticket office at 318-257-3631. Stadium gates will open 90 minutes prior to the beginning of the first game each day.
