Dorsey High School in Los Angeles, CA is home to several Division One players from recent years.

Kyle Gibson, the leading scorer for Louisiana Tech University last season, played at Dorsey High for his father, Kevin Gibson. Michael Wilds, a power forward who played at Chipola College and Louisiana Tech, also played at Dorsey High. The L.A. Rush, a team made up of underclassmen from dorsey, recently travled to Ruston, LA to play in the first annual Ruston Showcase. Coach Gibson was not allowed to coach the team, but he made the trip and offered his views. "We finished 17-8 last season," Coach Gibson said. "We lost in the quarterfinals." Dorsey's top player from last season, Nigel Carter, didn't make the trip. Carter is hearing from Indiana as well as Penn. Making the trip was Jordan Mackie, a 6'4" wing. Mackie is a long athlete and he uses his quickness to get to the basket. Mackie said he is getting letters from UCLA, USC, and Stanford among others. The junior showed good range on his jump shot, but needs to work on finishing inside. Mackie will fill out over the next year and a half and should have no problem adding strength to help him bang in traffic. Another junior, Lee Lark, showed good point guard skills and a good outside jump shot. Lark displayed all the abilities needed to run a team. Two members of the 2010 class also stood out. Len Springs and Anthony Dees both made plays throught the weekend. Dees showed a quick first step and the ability to knock down the three point shot. Springs has a lot of upside and could develop into a good recruit. "We had a good trip," Coach Gibson said of his visit to Ruston. The team played well and gained a lot of experience for next season. When asked about how his son was doing, Gibson said that Kyle likes playing for Coach Rupp and can not wait for next season. Kyle had a chance to spend time with his dad over the weekend. He might get the chance to play in front of him this coming season. It is unconfirmed, but there is a chance Louisiana Tech could be playing in Los Angeles this December against UCLA. It would be a great oppurtunity for Kyle Gibson to play in fornt of friends and family and show what kind of player he has become at Louisiana Tech.
