Three Bulldogs Ink Free Agent Contracts

RUSTON – One day after the completion of the 2008 NFL Draft, three Louisiana Tech Bulldogs signed free agent contracts as Mark Dillard, Josh Muse and Ryan Considine all signed on the dotted line.

Dillard signed with the New England Patriots. The Baton Rouge native started two years on the Bulldog defense, playing both safety and linebacker during his career, after beginning his collegiate career as a running back. He started all 12 games in 2007 and ended the season ranked third on the team with 87 tackles, including 37 solo stops. Dillard recorded a career-high 15 tackles against Boise State. “I think it’s a great time for me to show everything that I’ve worked for all this time,” Dillard said of the opportunity to try out for the Patriots. “I just need to play hard and play the game that I’ve always loved. I felt like New England was a better fit for what I bring to the table. The coaches showed a lot of interest in me from the beginning.” Considine signs with the Green Bay Packers after starting 36 straight games on the Bulldog offensive line the past three years. One of the Bulldogs most versatile offensive linemen in recent history, the Arlington, Texas native said he is happy to get an opportunity. “I was just glad to get a chance,” said Considine, who started at both guard and tackle during his college career. “I think it would awesome to play for them. It’s such a relief to get the call and know I’ve got a chance to go up there. More than being excited, I was relieved.” Muse signed with the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. The defensive tackle was named second team all-Western Athletic Conference following a senior season that saw him register 47 tackles, including 4.5 sacks.
