RUSTON, La. - Three Louisiana Tech football players have been named pre-season All-American by NationalChamps.net. The Web site dedicated to covering college football has released its 2008 season preview complete with a preseason Top 25 and All-America teams.
Safety Antonio Baker, punter Chris Keagle and linebacker Quin Harris were all named honorable mention on the NationalChamps.net All-America team. All three earned All-Western Athletic Conference for their 2007 efforts, with Baker and Keagle being named first team.
Baker led the Bulldogs in tackles in 2007 with Harris following close behind. Each played a key role in the turnaround of the defense in coach Derek Dooley's first year. Keagle ranked No. 1 in the WAC in average punt yardage and net punting. He also placed more than one-third of his punts inside the 20 to be among the top punters in the nation.
Fifteen other players from WAC schools received notice from NationalChamps.net with one representative from the WAC on each of the first, second and third teams. The remaining 12 WAC players made honorable mention.
