Dunkin Dawgs finish strong, WAC tourney next

Posted Mar 10, 2008

Louisiana Tech knocked off Hawaii and San Jose State last week, giving them six wins on the season, three of which were in conference. Next up is the WAC tournament, where the Dawgs will try to make it three in a row overall and two in a row against San Jose State on Tuesday night.

Kyle Gibson poured in 28 points against the Spartans on Saturday and could go for more on Tuesday after being left off the all WAC team. Gibson finished seventh in the WAC with 16.6 points per game and was one of six WAC players to be named to their respective All-Region teams.

The winner of the Louisiana Tech/San Jose State match-up will face #1 seed Utah State on Thursday. The Bulldogs lost to Utah State by more than 20 points recently in Logan, but stayed within 10 of the Aggies earlier this season in Ruston.

Coach Kerry Rupp’s team has not given up on the season and they are playing very hard every night. Tech has a little momentum going into the tournament; let’s see how far they can take it. We can be positive that they will give it their best.
