In this Baylor National Signing Day Snapshot takes a look at the Top Prospect, The Sleeper, The Late Addition and The One Who Got Away.

The Top Prospect

Robbie Rhodes, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver from Fort Worth (Texas) Southwest High is the highest rated prospect to sign a letter of intent with the bears since the birth of the website – by comparison he is rated higher than Robert Griffin. He is physically ready to be an impact type of player the day that he steps on campus. The most historically relevant comparison would probably be Oklahoma State alum Justin Blackmon.

The Sleeper

Since he is a two-star it could be debated that it is DeSoto (Texas) High’s linebacker Taylor Young, but when you have a five-star on the list you can pick a three-star sleeper and in this case I am rolling with Killeen (Texas) Shoemaker’s Johnny Jefferson. At 5-foot-1, 190 pounds, he is a speedy running back who also has great size at the position. He could actually end up considered as the best in the class by the time it is all said and done, stats wise.

The Late Addition

The commitment of 6-foot-1, 305-pound defensive tackle Andrew Billings was as big as it gets, literally. He is one of the most powerful high school prospects that I have ever scouted and he is able to maul players despite the fact that he is called upon to play both sides of the ball in high school. Once he gets the chance to use all of his power and energy and dedicate to one position he will be even more dominant. He picked Baylor over TCU at the last second before announcing his decision on the air with David Smoak.

The One Who Got Away

By and large, the Bears had a very successful recruiting season and got many of the top-tier prospects on the list, but you could consider Sealy (Texas) High’s Ricky Seals-Jones as the one who actually got away. ‘RS-J’ had Baylor listed amongst his favorites before and after his initial commitment to play at Texas and the bears hosted him for Junior Day.
