Mississippi All-Star Jarkeith Ruffin

Jarkeith Ruffin has played high school football in three states. The Alabama native spent some time last season in Tennessee before settling in at West Lauderdale High in Collinsville, Mississippi. A standout in all three states, Ruffin gets to represent the state of Mississippi in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game.

"It's been great," said Ruffin of the first two days of practice. "It's been a great experience being here with all of these guys and to be around all of these different coaches."

While some All-Star exhibitions are simply a glorified walk thru, the coaches and players from Mississippi are preparing for a physical contest this Saturday.

"I wasn't expecting to being doing this much hitting," said Ruffin. "We've been hitting a lot.

"It's been fun on defense too.

"We have a lot of fun guys that like to talk and they have made it a lot of fun for everybody."

A trio of four year schools have shown some strong interest in the talented linebacker.

"Southern University, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss are showing me interest right now," said Ruffin. "I am taking an official to Southern on January 11th.

"I want to take my visits and just enjoy being comfortable and find the place that I feel at home at for the next four years."
