On Saturday, the St. Louis Cardinals announced the organization has agreed to terms with 27 of their 44 selections in this week’s Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Among the new Cardinals are supplemental first-round picks third baseman Patrick Wisdom (52nd overall) and catcher Steve Bean (59th overall). Seven of the 14 players drafted in the first 10 rounds and 15 of the 24 drafted in the top 20 rounds have settled with the organization.

Bean is the only one of the 27 who is currently a high schooler. The 18-year-old catcher from Rockwall (Texas) High School had signed a letter of intent to play college baseball at the University of Texas in the fall, but instead is now a professional. An excited Bean tweeted that he planned to buy a car for his mother.
Left-handed pitcher Tim Cooney (3rd), righty Kyle Barraclough (7th), outfielder Yoenny Gonzalez (8th), catcher Rowan Wick (9th) and second baseman Jacob Wilson (10th) round out the remaining top 10 round picks signed.
The Cardinals also signed two of their five picks with ties to the organization, right-handed pitcher Mike Aldrete, a 39th round pick from San Jose State University, son of Cardinals bench coach Mike Aldrete; and infielder Jacoby Almaraz, son of Cardinals crosschecker Joe Almaraz.
Four of the Cardinals 14 total top 10 round picks are still playing college baseball in the NCAA Super Regionals and prohibited to sign until their season concludes. They are Florida State outfielder James Ramsey (1st), Stanford third baseman Stephen Piscotty (supplemental 1st), plus two Arizona players, shortstop Alex Mejia (4th) and right-handed pitcher Kurt Heyer (6th).
