Athletes from all over North Louisiana came to Ruston on Saturday to participate in a Nike Sparq workout that was put on by FCA and the Boys and Girls Club.
Kentrell Brice
from Ruston had a really good showing. The cornerback measured 6-0 and 172 pounds. He ran a laser timed 4.72 in the 40 and had a vetical jump of 35.6 inches.
Quentin Wheeler
from Ouachita led a talented group from his high school. Wheeler came in at 5-10 197. He ran the 40 in 4.81 seconds and also posted a 4.22 short shuttle.
Ouachita had several standouts on Saturday. Tavarius Buie posted one of the fastest 40 times at 4.60. Javanta Henderson tied Neville's Aravius Pierce for the highest vertical jump at 41.4". Jarrett Triplett had a 40.0" vertical. Taijuan Thomas ran a 4.76 in the 40 and had a 35.0 vertical jump.
The wind was blowing hard at James Stadium in Ruston. Some players did not post quite as high times as expected.
Cyril Noland
had a 4.8 in the 40 and a 36.0" vertical.
John Diarse
measured at 6-0 202 and ran a 4.93. Diarse, who plays both quarterback and receiver for Neville, has a strong build and could play running back at the college level with his combination of size and strength.
Brandon Wilson
from Calvary posted a 4.66 in the 40, one of the higher times of the day. The 5-10 177-pound running back had a vertical jump of 35.4 inches.
The big men were also in attendance. Defensive Lineman
Trae Ford
from Farmerville came in at 6-3 291. Unsaver Candler from Ouachita is a 6-0 295 Defensive Tackle.
K.J. Malone
is a 6-4 282 pound offensive lineman from Cedar Creek.
