"I actually like basketball more than football, but I'll probably go to college for football," said freshman sensation Elijah McGuire (5-10, 175). "A lot of people ask me if I'm going to play both sports in college, but I'm not sure if I'll do that."
McGuire led Vandebilt Catholic to the second round of the 2010 Class 4A playoffs in football.
"I averaged two to three touchdowns a game," he said. "I had around eight yards per carry and over 100 yards rushing per game. I played both quarterback and running back last year, and we're going to (continue to) mix it up next season with the Wildcat.
"I like running back better, and that's the position I'll probably stick with in college."
As a mere eighth-grader, McGuire led the Terriers' hoops squad in scoring and was named first-team all-district. Needless to say, he didn't slow down as a frosh.
"I averaged 18-to-20 points per game this year," he said. "Right now, I'm playing AAU ball. I play both point and shooting guard, but I don't score as much in AAU. I just focus on making plays."
McGuire says he favors LSU, Duke, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Syracuse, Georgetown, and Alabama.
