Going back to Phillip Livas, Matt Broha, and Tank Calais in 2007, Louisiana Tech has had a big presence in South Louisiana when it comes to recruiting. Patrick Jackson paved the way in 2005 and the duo of Antonio Baker and Daniel Porter got the ball rolling in 2006.
Josh Victorian,
Jared Miles
, and
Mason Hitt
were also part of that 2007 class. In 2008, it was
Eric Harper
,
Christian Lacey
, and
Kevin Saia
.
Kwame Jordan
, a Marrero native, also signed in 2008.
2009 was a banner year for
Louisiana Tech
in the bottom half of the state.
Rufus Porter
,
Chad Boyd
,
Jordan Mills
, D.J. St. Julien,
Tyrone Duplessis
,
Lyle Fitte
,
Kendrick James
,
Cassetti Brown
, and
Shakeil Lucas
all made the decision to play college football at Louisiana Tech.
2010 saw a shift towards Texas with 9 players signing out of the Lone Star State. Still, Louisiana Tech signed
Seth Ancar
from South Plaquemines and they recruited
Charles Barkins
and
Ryan Zeller
most of the season.
With Sonny Dykes and staff in town for over a year now, Louisiana Tech has once again set their sights to the south.
Junior College signee
Daniel Hayden
played some of his high school and his junior college ball in Mississippi, but he started his career at John Ehret High School. Hayden, a defensive end with a nose for the football, was just one of many targets on the defensive line.
Northside’s
Tyler Porter
and Salmen’s
Malcolm Pichon
are two of the most familiar names in this class. Both defensive tackles were targeted early by the Bulldog coaching staff and both players are key parts of the 2011 class.
Other area’s of need for the 2011 class for Tech was offensive tackle and defensive back.
Ezekiel Alsander
from Southern Lab is one of the best offensive line prospects in the State.
Bryson Abraham
from Jennings can play either safety or cornerback and brings much needed talent to a secondary that saw
Olajuwan Paige
and Josh Victorian both finish their senior seasons in 2010.
A home run threat is always a positive in any class and
Levander Liggins
from Leesville is just that. Liggins can play running back, defensive back, or wide receiver and he promises to be a major weapon on special teams.
Louisiana Tech has several veteran linebackers; including Jay Dudley,
Dusty Rust
,
Solomon Randle
, and
Adrien Cole
.
Warren Bates
from St. John High School and
Beau Fitte
from South Plaquemines will make sure that the talent level at their position will see no drop in talent level. Bates and Fitte add a ton of speed to the Bulldogs linebacker position.
Whether they need help on the offensive or defensive line, or playmakers on either side of the ball; Louisiana Tech found what they needed once again in their home state.
